http://www.theworldwidefishingclub.com showcases the LBG fishing spots in Wellington starting at boom rock for shore based sea fishing moving into catching the full fight of a Massive 24 KG kingfish in Wellington Harbour caught by Doug . One of three kingfish Doug caught in the season , , and one of many kingfish caught from Wellington harbour over the years. This fish was caught using a live bait Kahawhai about 30cm long give or take under a ballon and took about one hour 20 mintues of hard yards to land. Unfortunatly is was gaffed and gut hooked so couldnt be released however many are released , the legal size for kingfish in New Zealand is 75 cm and most fisherman here are very good at sticking to the rules , fishing tackle for this fish Doug used 20 kg fishing line with no trace and a penn jigmaster fishing reel , with a 6kg jig stick . In the beginning of the video you are taken around the coast of Makara to one of wellingtons most famous fishing spots called Boom Rock , Boom Rock fishing these days is no where near as good as days gone by by still worth a Jorney at least once a season . If you have never been there before its a bit of a walk about 1 hour 30 mintues and its best to take some burley along to be sure you get the fish excited :) . There is a small cave you can sleep in when your not night fishing or diving in the afternoon after your morning fish. And remember always take home your trash !
