I used to bass fish a place in Kilauea. Ever since guava kai sold there land i stopped going in. But today we go to the dam and the Kalihiwai ponds, it pays off with a nice Tucanare (peacock bass) in the 6 pound range. Unfortunately the intial stike was not caught on camera, we start filming about a minute in after the bass gets stuck in some grass and I have to go in the pond to get him free. I forgot how hard these guys fight, pound for pound one of the hardest fighting small game fish to catch. I baby him in, I had light tackle and didnt want to lose him. Of course I released him to fight another day.
