The mighty River Lule has its source high up in the Swedish mountains, near the Norwegian border. At the end of its course, it empties into the Gulf of Bothnia at Luleå, about 440 km later. The fishing on the River Lule now enjoys a nationwide reputation. In 2000, 2002, 2004 & 2007 it produced the biggest rod-caught salmon in Sweden.
